Activated Object

Activated Object is an installation centered around the found object and the ways in which a found object can transform a space and challenge thought. An in class assignment, to hunt for an object, lead me to find a frame, thrown in an alley. Activating the frame came from an idea of reflection, specifically a site of reflection, a bathroom sink. A bathroom sink holds an image of validity, strength in a moment of personal weakness, and I aimed to invert this concept. By suspending each object in the air the bathroom sink no longer becomes rooted in the ground, becoming fluid and fragile, a reflection of the person looking at themselves through the mirror.
